Remember pro-arena supporters: all you have to do to skew the poll results is hit F5 (refresh) and keep answering the poll question, just like I've done! No-one will ever know...

@Yes Arena. Kind of desperate to use my login name to put out a false message isn't it. Pathetic actually since i didn't make this statement.
by Yes Arena10/25/2011 9:19:29 PM
Quit with the childish games, and quit skewing the results whoever is doing it.
by Eric10/25/2011 9:23:25 PM
what a waste of money on a arena how about the oilers not finish in the bottom of the nhl.
by mike10/25/2011 9:24:27 PM
we could take 400m and make the lrt goto all ends of the city and plow snow to bare pavement or lets try this one hire more police to try and reduce our homicide rate do we think the murder capital of canada needs a arena
by mike10/25/2011 9:27:09 PM
Not everyone uses the LRT Mike so you would get an argument from people on that one as well. City will still have crime and roads will still be covered in snow whether or not the Arena ever gets built.
by Yes Arena10/25/2011 9:30:02 PM
You would think the only thing some Edmontonians are interested in is snow removal and pot holes. Get a life!
by Barb10/25/2011 9:31:15 PM
blah the oilers suck ass let them go
by mike10/25/2011 9:31:32 PM
So if THe Oilers beocme a powerhouse in a couple of seasons with all the great young talent, will you support an Arena then Mike?
by Yes Arena10/25/2011 9:32:36 PM
I aggree with the Arena, but disagree with it being tax funded.
by Randy10/25/2011 9:33:00 PM
nope
by mike10/25/2011 9:33:06 PM
not worth the money and the hassel oilers need to win if they want a new arena
by no@arena10/25/2011 9:33:30 PM
give the money to the single parents and the homeless lets make a billionare richer good plan
by mike10/25/2011 9:34:04 PM
Correct, it is a business decision and the performance of one of the tenents should have nothing to do with the decision. It is about the downtown and the City as a whole.
by Yes Arena10/25/2011 9:34:24 PM
The arena should be built!
by Ron Biggs10/25/2011 9:35:09 PM
Build it...why dont you take a stroll over to winnipeg and ask them how much we'll regret it if we dont
by Travis Kutz10/25/2011 9:36:07 PM
all i see is the city of edmonton taxes rising and the people getting poorer
by no@arena10/25/2011 9:36:36 PM
Let the sinlge parents earn thier own money like my mother did. If they want charity try the Federal Government, they are responsible for social programs.
by Yes Arena10/25/2011 9:36:59 PM
hey yes arena pull your head out of your ass and go ask the fed gov to build you a arena oh wait they said NO
by mike10/25/2011 9:38:53 PM
I say build it! Either that or lose the oilers for good!
by Dan M.10/25/2011 9:39:03 PM
goodbye oilers
by @no arena10/25/2011 9:39:32 PM
My taxes have gone up every year since i have been living here. Haven't seen any arenas built in that time so i question that argument.
by Yes Arena10/25/2011 9:39:32 PM
Mike, no need to get rude just because i don't wasnt my tax dollars going to homeless people. Maybe your response is self serving.
by Yes Arena10/25/2011 9:41:03 PM
maybe i dont want my tax dollars going to the arena
by mike10/25/2011 9:42:48 PM
I assume you don't and that purpose of these meetings at City Hall. I hope we have these hearings every single time we put up a stop sign or build a park. People have a right to their opinion and i assume Council will weigh all sides in this issue.
by Yes Arena10/25/2011 9:45:25 PM
katz wants to make more money off the people of edmonton
by @no arena10/25/2011 9:45:34 PM
I'm glad you guys aren't making decisions for our city ... negativity breeds more negativity.
by Barb10/25/2011 9:46:38 PM
I wanted the Airport to stay open but Council made a decision to close it. We elected these people and will have to live with their decision whether we like it or not.
by Yes Arena10/25/2011 9:47:35 PM
@mike quite the chip on your shoulder!! the issue isnt where should the money go, it is about the arena....if its built or not either way it has nothing to do with the homeless or single parents? Boo hoo you dont want your tax dollars going to a new arena...tax dollars went to the new museum...how many people bought seasons tix to support that??? How much money is the city making on that deal...oh is that a waste of your tax dollars too?
by not just an arena10/25/2011 9:49:12 PM
sure is
by mike10/25/2011 9:50:42 PM
how many edmonton residents are going to work at the new arena not as many as you think because people from the states and other provences will take 90 percent of the jobs
by mike10/25/2011 9:53:17 PM
The biggest problem in this debate is the focus on hockey. Really it has little to do with the argument aside from the fact 40-50 nights a year the Oilers will be the primary tenent. It is about jobs, economic impact, revitalizing a downtown and keeping Edmonton's place as a good place to live. I agree with the murder rate, potholes, snow clearing but we have all those problems now and still don't have a new facility. If the arean deal goes down the toilet are all these problems solved? I doubt it.
by Yes Arena10/25/2011 9:53:46 PM
I don't think the Oilsands are employing Albertans exclusively either. Attracting skilled professionals to the Province and City is a good thing isn't it?
by Yes Arena10/25/2011 9:56:00 PM
Just arrived at #yegarena public hearing. On panel 3 right now. #yegcc questioning speakers.
Thanks Linda for the update. Sounds like you have a long night ahead of you. Will this definitely end at 9:30 or is it possible it will carry over to WEdnesday?
by Yes Arena10/25/2011 10:15:00 PM
The argument to not build it is about as smart as the argument to NOT shut down the airport we had to endure during the election.
